Emily and I's weekend before break. 8/20-8/22

The weekend started off with me heading over to Emily’s school early Friday afternoon. From there we saw off Jon, Kyle, Luke, and Sam on their roadtrip. Somewhere in the mix gin and juices were had (and Gin and Juice was sung). After a little while we stopped for some chips at Captain Ben’s and then made our way to Kurt’s flat. There we drank some more while listening to great music and enjoying their new strobe light (and Tim’s dancing). Later on we went back to Emily’s where I ever so elegaently passed out at 9:30 PM. Emily went to check on me and passed out as well. Kurt was confused.

The next day we lounged around and headed into town to scope out tattoo places. We ended up settling with a great little place that had animal rights pamphlets and I got my ears pierced (for the third time) and Emily got her cartilage pierced. I also made my mom a bracelet for her birthday. Then we had nomnom sushi.

That night we went to Emily’s friend’s house who has a flat right by the beach! Then we came back, drank some more, took our caffeine pills (SPOILER ALERT: they were not caffeine pills), and hopped on the bus downtown. At this point we were uncomprehensibly in a different state of mind. Eating oranges in front of trash cans, thinking the bus seat was vibrating, the whole nine yards. We arrive in town, and were immediately overwhelmed by how fucking busy it was. I’m pretty sure all 4 million residents of New Zealand were there. We danced a little but Emily got too overwhelmed and had to go home. I opted to stay out with Tim, Tom, and Zak because I had farrrrr too much energy. So much energy in fact that I took the hour and a half walk home by myself with a skip and a smile.

Needless to say, I didn’t fall asleep until about 6 am. However, something to be said is the shot of rum that I was woken up with at 9:30 in the morning courtesy of Timasi. He stumbled home and started blasting reggae and yelling at Emily and me that it was time to party. It wasn’t. However, the rum did wake me up….

And that was the weekend of Courtney and Emily! It’s always interesting.

SO THE ROADTRIP 8/14-8/16

Emily, Kyle, Sam, and I decided to go on a weekend roadtrip. I drove and managed to not get anyone killed. Driving on the other side of the road really isn’t that bad and roundabouts are so much fun.

We stopped for a little while in Kaikoura and saw THE cutest seal in the world. I cuddled him for days. And by cuddle, I mean took excessive pictures. And by days, I mean about half an hour. Then we got to see even moooore seals and I died. It was adorable.

We stopped for the night in Nelson. It was a cute little town. We bought broccoli from the side of the road and played some card games and got really drunk. Then we headed into town and Sam saw that there was a free BBQ sign so insisted we went in. Well naturally it was a strip club. First strip club experience! Emily got up and started dancing. Thaaat’s my girl.

Then the next morning we drove to Greymouth. Kind of a dead town but the ride up was a lot of fun and we stopped at a beautiful lake. We went on a brewery tour of Monteith’s nom nom nom.

Then we drove home bright and early on Monday. We drove through Arthur’s Pass. Tad (our rental car) struggled a little with that one, but we made it through and it was so pretty. Need to go camping there.

Ergh, I feel like there were more detaisl to add but it happened so long ago! Ah, time has been flying by here. I don’t want it all to end :(

***forgot to add, the Friday before we left it was Alex’s 21st mustache and masks party. I someday hope to live in a world where fake mustaches are joyously wore every day. And real ones don’t exist.
